About Beck's
Beck's is a renowned German brewery with a rich history dating back to 1873. Founded in Bremen, Germany, by master brewers Heinrich Beck and Lüder Rutenberg, along with merchant Thomas May, the company was initially named Kaiser-Brauerei Beck & May o.H.G.
1874: The brewery received its first international recognition—a gold medal at the International Agricultural Exhibition in Bremen—from the future Emperor Frederick III of Germany.
1875: Thomas May left the partnership, leading to the renaming of the brewery to Kaiser-Brauerei Beck & Co.
1886: Beck's expanded its international reach by establishing distribution in East Asia via the Reichspostdampferlinie shipping route.
1931: Breweries in Batavia (now Jakarta) and Singapore began brewing Beck's beer to meet the growing demand in the Far East.
1949: Beck's beer was introduced to the German domestic market, transitioning from its previous status as an export-only product.
2001: Belgian beverage company Interbrew (now Anheuser-Busch InBev) acquired Beck's for €1.8 billion, marking a significant expansion of the brand's global presence.
Today, Beck's is recognized worldwide for its quality and innovation, maintaining its legacy as a pioneering force in the beer industry.
