We’re AB InBev, brewer of some of the world’s best beers, like Stella Artois, Corona and our American brand Budweiser. Read the interview with Karen and her experience working at AB InBev.
Tell us about you and your career at AB InBev
My name is Karen, I am 28 years old and I live in the Liège area. After four and a half years as HR Administrator, I decided to take a new challenge and joined the most appropriate company for it: AB InBev. It all started in March 2021 when I joined ABI as a “Time Administrator Specialist” in Jupille Brewery. I directly felt welcomed and placed in a position where I definitely could grow as a person, but also as a member of this team. Last April, I took a step up as “Team Lead” of the Time Admin Team.
This means that I am now responsible for a team of 5 persons (2 in Jupille, 2 in Leuven and 1 in Hoegaarden) working along to make sure that our people are correctly paid based on the different inputs they receive from their stakeholders. From my position, I am there to ensure that the brewery team has all the necessary tools and data to process the closure of the employees’ salaries with the maximum direct correct information.
Tell us about your team
This is a team of owners. It gives a chance to everyone to be responsible for their job as well as their career path. You have the space and freedom to search for improvements by yourself and make them come true. It’s also all about collaboration with your colleagues: the Payroll team members collaborate and exchange on cases to ensure that we learn from the past and look forward to growing.
What do you think about the company’s diversity and inclusion culture?
I believe this is a mindset to have to join the company. Speaking by experience, when you look at AB InBev's culture and values, you feel that the company doesn’t mention them just “because it has to be mentioned”. After all, they are important to the whole company. Diversity and Inclusion culture is something that you feel through the communications, through the initiatives the company takes and by promoting it as a big part of the culture.
At AB InBev, we believe that a world with more cheers means equality across the business. It means an inclusive, supportive workplace where everyone is free to speak their mind and share ideas. A workplace where everyone is empowered to dream big.
