From labs to labels, Aleksandra does it all.
Aleksandra’s role as a Lab Technician with AB InBev really satisfies her curiosity for beer production – from tasting the product to making sure everything runs smoothly. At the Samlesbury brewery in England, she gets to work on classic brands like Stella Artois, Budweiser, Beck’s and Boddingtons and plays a key part in helping us produce 3.0 million hectolitres of beer every year. She arrives every day knowing that her work is essential to the quality of our beers.
Keeping things running perfectly
Aleksandra's brother recommended applying for a job at AB InBev. “He was already working here and he really liked it,” she says. “When I first started, it was on a different project, checking the Budweiser twist-off bottles. Then I started to be trained in the lab as well because I was interested in the work they do. Thanks to that, I started working in the lab when a position opened.”
Her job involves making sure all the machinery is running perfectly and checking the beer’s quality at different stages. This means sampling and testing of the microbiological and physical attributes of the beer. “The work my team and I do is crucial to making sure our beer is the best quality,” she proudly explains.
But it’s not all lab work
One of Aleksandra’s proudest achievements at AB InBev is designing a winning beer label for the Samlesbury Brewery’s limited edition 45th anniversary beer, named Samlesbeer. “There was a huge celebration and I was awarded two tickets to the Wimbledon tennis championship!” she smiles.
Satisfying her ambition
According to Aleksandra, there are always opportunities to learn at AB InBev. “We have taste training every week and I’m currently learning about the different flavours in our beers.” In the future, Aleksandra would like to train in filtration, where they refine the beer into the final product. “It’s something I find really interesting and it’s a big responsibility,” she adds.
Taking ownership of our standards
Despite the size of AB InBev, Aleksandra says you don’t get lost in the system. “It’s one of the biggest companies in the world but they really care about their staff – and we’re proud to work for them,” she says. “Everyone has a strong sense of ownership, so we do our best to make it the best company possible and to produce the best beer.” It’s why Aleksandra makes it her personal responsibility to make sure our standards are as high as they can be.
Feeling connected to the whole process
It’s her colleagues that inspire Aleksandra to do her best at work. “The people here are wonderful to work with,” she shares. “Everyone is always willing to help and the sense of teamwork is really motivating, not just in the lab but across the whole brewery.”
Because the team works so closely together at Samlesbury, they get an insight into the whole process, from the beer filtration to packaging and the finished product. “It makes every day really interesting,” Aleksandra concludes.
